Criminal defense attorney Tara Breslow has spent more than two decades fighting for her client’s rights throughout New Jersey including Monmouth County, Ocean County, Middlesex County and Union County. Ms. Breslow received her law degree from Rutgers Law School and a B.A. from the University of Michigan. While at Rutgers, Ms. Breslow became passionate about individual rights. She received extensive clinical experience through her work on the Innocence Project and at the Constitutional Litigation Clinic. She also clerked for the Honorable Donald J. Volkert, Jr., currently the Assignment Judge for Passaic County. Following Ms. Breslow’s clerkship, she was an Assistant Deputy Public Defender in Union County and then trial court in Monmouth County.

Ms. Breslow’s determination and passion for advocacy is evident in her commitment to helping individuals before they get stuck in the system. This includes representing numerous individuals in Pre-indictment court (PIP court). PIP courts are designed to resolve cases in the preliminary stage, before they are presented to the Grand Jury. Quick resolution of cases in PIP court saves valuable time and money as the result of shorter probationary periods and lower fines. Avoiding the one-sided Grand Jury process with an early plea has proven to be beneficial for many facing potential criminal charges.

Ms. Breslow is also committed to helping first time offenders stay out of jail through such programs as Pre-trial intervention (PTI). PTI offers first offenders the opportunity to avoid jail time by complying with certain conditions set forth by the court, such as community service and probation.
